Before we begin, we would like to congratulate you on the birth of your child and thank you for the desire to raise them in the faith. Canon 849 of the Code of Canon Law points out that men and women through baptism "are freed from sin, are reborn as children of God, and configured to Christ by an indelible character, are incorporated into the Church."

Antes de comenzar, queremos felicitarlos por el nacimiento de su hijo y agradecerles su deseo de criarlos en la fe. El bautismo es un sacramento fundamental que da la bienvenida formal a su hijo a la familia de Dios. Para su hijo, el bautismo lo inicia en el importante camino de la fe. El canon 849 del Código de Derecho Canónico señala que los hombres y las mujeres, mediante el bautismo, «son liberados del pecado, renacen como hijos de Dios, configurados con Cristo por un carácter indeleble y se incorporan a la Iglesia».

Aunque Jesús era el Hijo de Dios, su bautismo en el Jordán por Juan el Bautista fue importante. Preparation for the Sacrament of Baptism is important.  It is important so that parents understand the important role they play in their child's ongoing faith formation.  It is important to understand that while the events of the day are brief, the formation process lasts a lifetime and as the primary educators of their children, parents must be able pass on and explain the symbols and traditions. 
  
We require baptism formation before the baptism of your first child.  This can be done in the months prior to your child's birth.  For the English Classes we offer an online format only.  If you wish to have an in-person class that can be scheduled through Father Carroll.  Members of the Hispanic Community can also use the online format, but we also have an in-person option available for both the parents and godparents.  
  
 At Immaculate Conception Church starting in April 2025, we will begin using Belonging: Baptism in the Family of God out of Ascension Press.  Families have the option of doing just the online certification which provides the online Parent's Guide and Session Guide or if you want to get the parents set which includes the hard copies of the Parent's Guide and Session Guide for the online certification it would be a few dollars extra.  After completing the online certification, you will submit the certificate to the parish office.   You will also
